End of an Era

I would like to take a second to stop and reflect on the end of an era.

On Monday we officially cut over Antiqnet.com to point to GoAntiques.com. We have focused all of our marketing at GoAntiques these last few years, and as duplicate content now hurts us on the search engines like Google and Yahoo!, it was time to make the change.

As many of you know, Antique Networking began as an idea that my wife Kathy Kamnikar had in 1992. After many long hours writing a business plan and getting an SBA loan, Antiqnet was incorporated in 1994 and launched in 1995. An incredible amount of her hard work early on has been the foundation upon which everything since has been built. As other web companies folded during
the bust, we managed to prevail for one main reason - our service is valuable to both buyers and sellers.

As we look ahead at many exciting opportunities, please know that the determination and persistence that gave Antiqnet legs remains our most valuable asset today. We are committed to you, our customers, and are focused on expanding our services so that you find them of more value.

Goodbye Antiqnet - it was one heck of a run.

GoAntiques recently announced a partnership with Xactware whereby GoAntiques.com merchandise is available to insurance companies through XactContents. XactContents is Xactware’s personal property estimation software for residential loss cases. It allows Insurers the ability to find replacement items for insureds, and soon insureds will have access to replace items themselves through an online shopping portal as well.

Homeowners lost $41.9 billion in 2005, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. 7 of the top 10 insurance companies in the U.S. use Xactware.
